Welding for Theater

This month I’m taking a MIG welding class at ADX in Portland, Oregon. Metal Inert Gas welding is a process commonly used in theater set construction. We’ll learn how to (safely) cut, clean, drill, and weld structural steel. Over the summer I took ADX’s Introduction to Wood class. It was awesome. Our instructor, Seamus, broke down concepts in a way we could all understand and learning to use the tools was really exciting. I love art forms that require so much focus. I hope to apply my new metal and wood skills to some productions this fall.
